The
successful history of this camp is due to a sound teaching philosophy that
is implemented by experienced instructors. It is a teaching camp in which
the instructors demonstrate and explain volleyball techniques, tactics, and
systems. Campers are continually given feedback in these areas. All drills,
sessions and instruction are designed to provide as many quality contacts as
possible throughout the camp.
The day begins with exclusive setter training for 1 1/2 hours. All aspects of the setting position are covered in great detail. The setters, hitters, libero's, and defensive specialists are then combined for 2 1/2 hours. The "combined training" progression is single contact to multiple contact, multiple skill, small group, game-related, pass-set-hit, dig-set-hit training. At the end of the morning session, setters, libero's, and defensive specialists receive additional position-specific training. The afternoon session consists of "combined training" (for example, pass-set-hit) followed by position-specific training for setters, libero's, and defensive specialists. The evening session consists exclusively of 6-on-6 drills with the feedback emphasis on individual position technique and tactics, followed by a technical recap and evening seminar. Additionally, two entire afternoons are designated for "specialized stations" where campers can practice any skill they would like to improve.
